Memory Care

Our Memory Care program runs specifically tailored to the needs of our residents. We offer person-centered care for each resident with memory loss​

In addition to all the essential services provided for all Heal Rest residents we also provide the following:

• Individualized service plans

• Nutritious well-balanced meals

• Assistance with Activities of Daily Living(bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting)

• Medication/diabetes management

• Medication Administration and reminders

• Accommodation of special diets such as diabetic, renal, gluten-free, vegetarian overseen by a registered dietitian

• Cognitive appropriate activities centered around the interest and abilities of residents

-The special Memory Care unit is different with respect to physical space in the facility and additional special training required for care givers.

-Rooms in our memory care unit are equipped with optimum safety features for residents who show symptoms of time and space confusion and wandering

-The special care unit services are also different with respect to enhanced dementia related activities and direct personal care

Facility design and features are appropriate to support the functioning of cognitively impaired residents in the following areas: 

• The facility is beautifully designed with a large scenic backyard and surroundings. A backyard gated swimming pool allows residents to sit out and enjoy the view of the water

• The living spaces are comfortable and feel homely

• The floor plan is easy to follow

• Wheelchairs and walkers fit in doorways, hallways and rooms

• Cupboards and shelves are in easy reach

• All hardwood floors make for easy cleaning and sanitation

• Rooms are well-lit

• Rooms are clean, odor-free and a comfortable temperature as required by COMAR regulations

• Residents rooms have their own doors

• There is a 24 hour emergency response system and security monitoring

• The bathrooms are big enough for wheelchairs and walkers

• The facility has a common use telephone and cable TV in each room
